About Me

Kolkata, IN

Four practices, learned in the order they arrived. Each one changed how the next was approached.

Cinematography

Cinematography journey

Six years behind a cine camera, most of them spent learning that a frame is a decision about what to leave out rather than what to fit in.

Wedding films came first, and they taught the pace: one take, no second chance, a day that does not pause while you change a lens. Commercial, product and music video came after, and they taught the opposite discipline — coverage planned before anyone arrives, every setup already knowing where it lands on the timeline.

The habit both of them left me with is the same. I shoot for the cut, not for the gallery, and I hand over footage that already knows its edit.

Photography

Photography journey

Six years of stills, freelance from the start. People, organisations and studios, and mostly within walking distance of home.

I did not need to travel the world to find a photograph.

The shots worth keeping are of the corners nobody else stops at. Walk the same street until it changes, wait for the light rather than add it, and keep the frame that is true instead of the one that flatters. Kolkata has more of those corners than I will finish.

Video Editing

Video editing journey

Short-form vertical, scripted in Bengali and English, cut for someone who will leave in two seconds if the first two do not earn them.

Editing is pacing, and pacing is respect. I assemble on the hook rather than the slate, and I grade and mix in one pass — a cut that is colour-corrected and then sent elsewhere for sound has been handled twice by people who could not hear each other.

Everything ships vertical, captioned and at the right loudness, mixed so it still works with the sound off. Most of the time it will be.

DevOps

DevOps journey

Seven years of graphic design pointed at interfaces, and a Cyber Security degree still in progress at The Heritage Academy.

The design years taught me the grid. The security coursework taught me the threat model. Interfaces are where both of those stop being theory and become something a stranger has to use without being told how.

Associate Founder at Indrav, up to the end of 2025. The working order has not changed since the first layout I ever set: map the flows before the pixels, build the component system once, ship it, then watch what breaks.

Where is Arkadeep Chakraborty based?

Kolkata, West Bengal, in India. Most of the photography is made within walking distance of home, and the film and design work runs from the same city. Enquiries arrive by email at hello@arkadeepchakraborty.com or through the forms on this site.

How much does a project cost?

There is no rate card. Pricing is quoted per project against the scope, because a one-day product shoot and a three-day wedding are not the same job. The freelance form asks for the scope, the dates and an estimated budget, and a quote comes back against those.

How long does a project take?

It is quoted with the price rather than fixed in advance. Send the scope and the dates you need through the freelance form and the reply covers availability, an estimated timeline and pricing together, so you are not agreeing to one before knowing the others.

How do you hire Arkadeep Chakraborty?

Two ways, both on every page. Quick hire opens a message already addressed to hello@arkadeepchakraborty.com, for anyone who has the brief in a document already. Open for work opens a longer form, one for a job offer and one for a freelance gig.
